Finland's current national policy for the internationalization of higher education and research (2017-2025), entitled Better Together for a Better World, as well as the Vision for Strengthening the International Dimension of Finnish higher education and research by 2035, both highlight the importance of higher education and science, and responsible global academic partnerships in response for our joint global challenges. These strategic objectives guide also the national initiatives and funding for higher education and research in Finland. In addition, in 2023, The Finnish University Partnership for International Development, UniPID, together with the Finnish National Board on Research Integrity, TENK, published Ethical Guidelines for responsible academic partnerships with Global South to encourage critical thinking and self-reflection within academic partnerships in support for inclusive and equitable global collaboration. Seeking responses and creating solutions for the increasingly complex global sustainable development and societal challenges is also written in the missions of the Finnish Higher Education institutions (HEIs), who have long-term experience from reciprocal collaboration with their international partners, including in Latin America. The aim of this session is to share and discuss the experiences from Finland from the policies and implementation of HEIs' international actions for sustainable development, presenting concrete cases of cooperation between Finnish and Brazilian/Latin American HEIs. Laurea University of Applied Sciences (UAS) will present their collaboration in Brazil on sustainable business and work life connections in the Amazon region. University of Oulu's Kerttu Saalasti Institute and Oulu UAS will showcase their cooperation in Brazil on responsible leadership for managing sustainable business and development of new models for online course collaboration.
