Sérgio Abranches is a Brazilian writer, sociologist and political scientist. Columnist for O Estado de Minas and Correio Braziliense. He has been professor at IUPERJ and visiting professor at UFRJ and UFMG. He holds a master's degree from UnB) and a PhD from Cornell University. His current work focuses on the 21st century transition and global climate policy. He has authored the novel The Butterfly Interpreter (2022) and essays like Copenhagen: Before and After (2010), Coalition Presidentialism (2018) and The Time of Incidental Governing Authorities (2020). A Brazil PEN Club Literary Award winner (2018) and a Jabuti Prize finalist (2019), he is curator of literary festivals in Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro.
